SSInnovation: From Technological Entrepreneurship to the Wake-Up 4.0 Final
Samuel Costa and Sabino Rocha, finalists of the Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering and Automation at ISPGAYA, took their project SSInnovation, a technology-based startup, to the final stage of Wake-Up Industry 4.0. They were among the top 8 best ideas that presented in the Final Pitch.
The motivation to participate in Wake-Up Industry 4.0 arose within the scope of the pre-project curricular unit during a class taught by Wake-Up, where submitting an idea was part of the assignment. The challenge was launched by Wake-Up and INOVA+, inviting students to improve and invest in their ideas.
According to Samuel and Sabino, SSInnovation consists of "sensorizing the factory floor and, with the help of tools such as Machine Learning and AI, generating alerts for maintenance teams to prevent production downtimes."
During the competition, the Electronic Engineering and Automation students had the opportunity to visit incubators and, even before reaching the final stage of the technological entrepreneurship program, they went through the Digital Pitch selection.
The Final Pitch took place on June 6th, at the auditorium of the headquarters of the Business Association of Oliveira de Azeméis - AECOA, where the students successfully presented their business idea to a jury consisting of project promoters - AECOA and INOV, a representative from the business sector, Tailor - Advanced Analytics, Lda, as well as an audience composed of teachers and professionals who attended the presentation.
Samuel and Sabino concluded Wake Up 4.0 with increased confidence and motivation to continue developing the SSInnovation project and, in the future, to participate in new competitions to obtain funds to advance the project.
