RCS - Webinar "How to boost the use of the ecological footprint by IES"

The Working Group on Sustainability Governance and Strategy is organising a webinar on the use of the Ecological Footprint in HEIs (or, in English, “Empowering HEIs with the University Footprint Calculator”). Resulting from the European EUSTEPs project, this assessment tool is very useful in characterising the current situation, identifying guidelines for the sustainable development of higher education institutions and also for monitoring the plans that arise from these guidelines. The EUSTEPs project material states: “To support European universities in becoming transformative agents of sustainability, the EUSTEPs project has developed an online and open-access calculator: the University Ecological Footprint Calculator. Designed as an open digital tool, it will allow the calculation of the Ecological Footprint of universities based on their consumption of natural resources and use of ecosystem services, and identify areas of intervention to reduce the environmental impact of university activities and operations.” The webinar will feature Professors Sara Moreno Pires, from the University of Aveiro, and Mahsa Mapar, from the Universidade Aberta.
