On October 18, 1990, Ordinance No. 1061 was published, recognizing and formalizing the creation of two schools that comprised ISPGAYA, then known as the "Polytechnic Institute of Gaia." The schools, named the School of Social and Community Development and the School of Science and Technology, offered three and four higher education programs, respectively, and were authorized to operate beginning in the 1990/1991 academic year.
October 18 is the anniversary of ISPGAYA, which celebrated its 35th anniversary last Saturday. This anniversary will be commemorated through several initiatives taking place throughout the year, in which the academic community is expected to participate.
Since institutions are built by people, congratulations are due to those who are currently at ISPGAYA and all those who have been here in some way over these 35 years, contributing to the institution's status as it is today.
Congratulations!
Professor Jorge Simões
President of ISPGAYA
